History

Formed in 1867 from Riley County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Lincoln County was created from Riley County on February 26, 1867, and named after Abraham Lincoln. The county was not fully organized at its creation; it was briefly attached to Ottawa County for judicial purposes in March 1867, then to Saline County in February 1868, before becoming fully organized and detached from Saline on October 6, 1870.

Boundary changes from the Newberry Library, Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
