History
Formed in 1867 from Marion County and Riley County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Rush County was created from Marion County and Non-County Area 2, though it was not fully organized at its creation. The county was attached to Ellis County for judicial purposes in 1868, with that arrangement continuing in 1872. Rush County lost territory to Pawnee County in 1873 and became fully organized and independent in 1874.
