History
Formed in 1873 from Ford County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Stanton County was created from Non-County Area 6 on March 20, 1873, but was not fully organized and was attached to Ford County for judicial purposes. The county lost all its territory to Hamilton County in 1883 and was eliminated, then was re-created from Hamilton County in 1887 with the same boundaries. Stanton County became fully organized and detached from Hamilton County on June 17, 1887.
