History
Formed in 1867 from Marion County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Kiowa County was created from Marion County on February 26, 1867, but was not fully organized at that time. In 1873, Kiowa was attached to Reno County for judicial purposes, but in 1875 it lost all its territory to Comanche and Edwards Counties and was eliminated. Kiowa County was re-created on February 11, 1886, from Comanche and Edwards Counties with the same boundaries as the original county, and was fully organized by March 25, 1886.
