History
Founded in 1873
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Scott County was created from Non-County Area 6 on March 20, 1873, though it was not fully organized at that time. In its early years, the county was attached to other counties for judicial purposes, first to Ness, then to Ford, then to Finney starting in 1885. Scott County became fully organized and detached from Finney on July 5, 1886.
