History
Formed in 1851 from Polk County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Emmet County was created from Polk County on January 15, 1851, but was not fully organized or attached to any county at that time. It was attached to Boone County on January 22, 1853, then detached and attached to Webster County on January 24, 1855, for election, judicial, and revenue purposes. Emmet County was fully organized and detached from Webster County on February 7, 1859.
