History
Formed in 1851 from Pottawattamie County and Dallas County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Audubon County was created from Pottawattamie County and a non-county area that was attached to Dallas County, but was not fully organized at the time. In 1851, Audubon County lost territory to Guthrie County and was then attached to Cass County for revenue, election, and judicial purposes. The county became fully organized and was detached from Cass County on July 9, 1855.
