History
Formed in 1846 from Linn County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Marshall County was created from Linn County on January 13, 1846, while Iowa was still a territory. It was initially attached to Jasper County for election, revenue, and judicial purposes before being fully organized and detached on October 1, 1849. When Iowa became a state on December 28, 1846, Marshall County became an official state county.
