History
Formed in 1851 from Delaware County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Grundy County was created from Non-County Area 6 attached to Delaware on January 15, 1851, but was not fully organized at that time. It was initially attached to Buchanan County for judicial, elective, and revenue purposes in February 1851, then transferred to Black Hawk County in January 1853. Grundy County was fully organized and detached from Black Hawk on December 25, 1856.
