History
Formed in 1847 from Appanoose County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Ringgold County was created from Appanoose County on February 24, 1847, but was not yet fully organized and remained attached to Appanoose. In 1853, Ringgold was attached to Taylor County for revenue, election, and judicial purposes. The county became fully organized and independent on March 1, 1855, when it detached from Taylor County.
