History
Formed in 1851 from Polk County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
When Plymouth County was created in 1851, it was not fully organized and was attached to Polk County. In 1853 it was attached to Woodbury County for revenue, election, and judicial purposes, but by 1858 it became fully organized and detached from Woodbury. After being reattached to Woodbury for judicial purposes in 1868, Plymouth County was again fully organized and permanently detached in 1870.
