History
Formed in 1846 from Mahaska County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Warren was established on January 13, 1846, by Iowa Territory from Non-County Area 3 attached to Mahaska County, though it was not fully organized at that time. When Iowa became a state in December 1846, Warren became an official county. The county was fully organized in 1849 after experiencing boundary adjustments with Polk County in 1847 and 1853.
