History
Formed in 1851 from Delaware County and Polk County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Worth County was created from Non-County Area 6 attached to Delaware and Non-County Area 9 attached to Polk, but was not fully organized at first. For several years it was attached to neighboring counties for administrative and judicial purposes: Chickasaw, Floyd, Mitchell, and then Cerro Gordo. Worth County became fully organized and independent on May 1, 1858.
