History

Formed in 1851 from Polk County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Originally created as Fox County in 1851, it was renamed Calhoun County in 1853 and attached to Boone County for administration and judicial purposes. In 1855, Calhoun County was detached from Boone County and attached to Greene County for elections and revenue, then became fully organized and independent later that year.
