History
Formed in 1851 from Pottawattamie County and Monroe County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Union County was created on January 15, 1851, from Pottawattamie County and a non-county area attached to Monroe County, though it was not fully organized at that time. The county was fully organized on March 1, 1853, and was named after the United States.
