History
Formed in 1851 from Delaware County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Bremer County was created from Delaware County on January 15, 1851, but was not initially organized or fully attached to any other county. It was named after Fredrika Bremer. The county was temporarily attached to Buchanan County in February 1851, then to Black Hawk County in March 1853, before becoming fully organized and independent on August 15, 1853.
