History

Formed in 1851 from Polk County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Greene County was created from Non-County Area 9 and initially attached to Polk County. The county was attached to Dallas County in 1853 for administrative and judicial purposes, then fully organized and detached in 1854. Calhoun and Sac counties were temporarily attached to Greene County for election, judicial, and revenue purposes before each was fully organized and detached.
