History
Formed in 1847 from Appanoose County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Page County was created from Non-County Area 5 attached to Appanoose County in 1847 but was not fully organized at that time. A boundary dispute arose in 1847 when Missouri implicitly overlapped Page County by claiming a state boundary approximately 10 miles north of the present boundary. The U.S. Supreme Court resolved the boundary dispute in 1849 by setting the Iowa-Missouri boundary at its present location. Page County was fully organized in 1852.
