History

Formed in 1838 from Cannon County, Warren County, White County and Jackson County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

DeKalb County was created from Cannon, Warren, and White counties, though legislation mentioned including part of Jackson County without that being included in the boundary description. The county was named after Johann de Kalb.

Boundary changes from the Newberry Library, Atlas of Historical County Boundaries; the 5 that matter most are shown first.
