History

Founded in 1821

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Henry County was created in 1821 from Non-County Area 4, with Non-County Area 11 attached for administrative and judicial purposes. The county's boundaries shifted multiple times over the nineteenth century, losing territory to the creation of Weakley and Obion counties in 1823 and to Benton County in 1836, with smaller adjustments to and from Benton and Carroll counties continuing through 1891.

Boundary changes from the Newberry Library, Atlas of Historical County Boundaries; the 5 that matter most are shown first.
