History
Formed in 1817 from Bledsoe County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Marion County was created on December 26, 1817, from Bledsoe County and non-county area. Over its first decades, Marion County lost and gained territory through multiple boundary adjustments with neighboring counties including Franklin, Bledsoe, Hamilton, Warren, and Grundy, with some changes later repealed or overturned.
