History
Formed in 1803 from Adams County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Scioto County was created from Adams County on May 1, 1803, and gained territory from Gallia County in 1804. Between 1815 and 1816, the county lost land to the creation of Pike, Lawrence, and Jackson counties, though Lawrence was later reorganized and adjustments to Scioto's boundaries continued through the 1820s.
