History
Formed in 1808 from Franklin County and Knox County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Richland County was initially not fully organized and was attached to Knox County for administrative and judicial purposes until 1813, when it was fully organized and detached from Knox. Over several decades, the county experienced boundary adjustments, losing land to Crawford, Ashland, and Morrow counties, while also gaining some territory back from Ashland and Morrow.
