History
Formed in 1812 from Portage County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Medina County was created from Portage County on February 18, 1812, but was not fully organized until January 14, 1818, when it was detached from Portage. Over the following decades, Medina lost territory to the creation and organization of Lorain County in 1822–1824 and Summit County in 1840, while also gaining some territory from Lorain County in 1840.
