History
Formed in 1820 from Logan County, Delaware County and Wood County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Hancock County was created in 1820 from parts of Logan, Delaware, and Wood counties. Initially not fully organized, it was attached to Wood County for administrative and judicial purposes until 1828, when it was fully organized and detached from Wood. In 1845, Hancock County lost territory to the creation of Wyandot County.
