History
Formed in 1808 from Franklin County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Delaware County was created from Franklin County on April 1, 1808, and named after the Lenape. The county lost territory on multiple occasions: in 1815 to Huron, in 1820 to Union, Crawford, Hancock, Hardin, and Marion, and in 1848 to Morrow and Marion.
