History
Formed in 1820 from Delaware County and Logan County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Crawford County was created in 1820 from Delaware and Logan counties, though it was not fully organized and remained attached to Delaware for administrative and judicial purposes. Over the following years, parts of Crawford were attached to different counties for judicial purposes: Seneca in 1824, then Marion in 1824, until Crawford was fully organized in 1826. In 1845, Crawford gained territory from Marion and Richland but lost land to the creation of Wyandot County, and in 1848 it lost more territory to the creation of Morrow County.
