History
Formed in 1803 from Hamilton County and Ross County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Greene County was created in 1803 from parts of Hamilton and Ross counties and Non-County Area 1. The county was named after Nathanael Greene. It lost territory in 1805 when Champaign County was created and again in 1818 when Clark County was created.
