History
Formed in 1814 from Gibson County and Warrick County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Perry County was created by the Indiana Territory in 1814 from Gibson and Warrick Counties and named after Oliver Hazard Perry. When Indiana became a state in 1816, Perry became an official county and subsequently lost and gained territory through the creation of Pike, Spencer, and Crawford Counties over the following decades.
