History
Formed in 1835 from Wabash County, Warren County and White County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Jasper County was created on February 7, 1835, from parts of Wabash, Warren, and White counties. The county was named after William Jasper. Jasper was not fully organized until March 15, 1838, when it was detached from Warren and White counties for administrative and judicial purposes. The county gained all of Newton County in 1839, but Newton was re-created in 1859.
