History
Founded in 1818
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Lauderdale County was created by Alabama Territory from Non-County Area on February 6, 1818. Shortly after its creation, the county's boundary in the Tennessee River was adjusted to run in the middle of the stream. In 1821, Lauderdale lost territory to the newly formed Limestone County.
