History
Formed in 1818 from Montgomery County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Tuscaloosa County was created from Montgomery County and territory not yet organized as a county. In its early years the county went through significant boundary changes, losing territory to the creation of Marion, Greene, Perry, Walker, and Jefferson Counties, and gaining land from Cahawba (now Bibb), Marengo, Marion, and Perry.
