History

Formed in 1825 from Covington County and Henry County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Dale County was created on October 17, 1825, from Covington County and Henry County. Over the following decades, the county's boundaries shifted as neighboring counties were created and adjusted: Coffee County in 1841, Geneva County in 1868, and Houston County in 1903 all reduced Dale County's area through boundary changes and new county formations.
