History
Formed in 1833 from Izard County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Carroll County was created by the Arkansas Territory from Izard County, with the act taking effect on December 25, 1833. The county became part of the state of Arkansas in 1836 and underwent several boundary changes over the following decades, exchanging territory with neighboring counties including Madison and Marion, while losing land to the creation of Madison, Newton, and Boone counties.
