History
Formed in 1835 from Independence County, Jackson County and Pulaski County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
White County was created by Arkansas Territory from Independence, Jackson, and Pulaski counties on December 1, 1835, and became a county in the state of Arkansas in 1836. The county was named after Hugh Lawson White. Over time, White County gained small areas from Pulaski, Conway, and Lonoke counties, and lost territory to Prairie, Cleburne, and Woodruff counties.
