History
Formed in 1843 from Hot Spring County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Montgomery County was created from Hot Spring County by an act passed December 9, 1842, taking effect July 1, 1843. The county lost territory to Yell, Saline, Perry, Polk, Hot Spring, Clark, Pike, and Garland counties through various boundary adjustments between 1845 and 1917, and exchanged territory with Scott County in 1925.
