History
Formed in 1842 from Union County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Ouachita County lost territory to the creation of Calhoun County in 1850 and gained territory from Hempstead County in 1852 before losing territory to the creation of Columbia County the same year. In 1853, Ouachita County exchanged land with Union County, and in 1871 it lost territory to the creation of Nevada County.
