History

Formed in 1871 from Franklin County, Johnson County, Scott County and Yell County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Originally named Sarber when created from Franklin, Johnson, Scott, and Yell counties on March 22, 1871, the county was renamed Logan in 1875. The county's boundaries were clarified and adjusted several times, gaining land from Scott County in 1881 and 1903, while losing a small area to Yell County in 1891 and exchanging land with Yell County in 1922.
