History

Formed in 1823 from Arkansas County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Chicot County was created by Arkansas Territory from Arkansas. It lost territory multiple times to neighboring counties, including Union, Desha, Drew, and Ashley, with the most recent adjustments occurring in 1965.
