History

Formed in 1862 from Jackson County and St. Francis County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Woodruff County was named after William E. Woodruff. The county lost territory to Monroe County in 1869, then gained and lost small areas through boundary adjustments with Monroe, Prairie, and White Counties between 1873 and 1887.
