History

Formed in 1846 from Pulaski County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Prairie County was created from Pulaski County on November 25, 1846. The county's boundaries changed numerous times through the 19th century, with land gained from and lost to neighboring counties including Pulaski, Monroe, Lonoke, White, and Woodruff.

Boundary changes from the Newberry Library, Atlas of Historical County Boundaries; the 5 that matter most are shown first.
