History
Formed in 1871 from Arkansas County, Bradley County, Desha County, Drew County and Jefferson County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Lincoln County was created in 1871 from Arkansas, Bradley, Desha, Drew, and Jefferson counties. The county's boundaries shifted multiple times over the following decades, losing territory to the creation of Dorsey County in 1873 and exchanging land with Desha County in several transactions between 1879 and 1925. In 1975, Lincoln County gained Sloan Island from Jefferson County due to shifts in the course of the Arkansas River.
