History
Formed in 1856 from Chisago County and Ramsey County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Pine County was created in 1856 from Chisago County and Ramsey County, though it was not fully organized at first. The county was fully organized for county government in 1857, then lost territory in 1857 with the creation of Aitkin, Buchanan, and Carlton counties. Pine County experienced several periods of attachment and detachment for judicial purposes before being fully organized and detached from Chisago County in 1871.
