History

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Wright County was created on February 20, 1855, from Cass and Sibley Counties. It was fully organized for county government and judicial purposes on March 2, 1855. The county was named after Silas Wright. On March 20, 1858, Wright County gained territory from Stearns County, but lost it back to Stearns County on July 31, 1866.
