History
Formed in 1853 from Dakota County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Le Sueur County was named after Pierre-Charles Le Sueur. When Le Sueur County was created from Dakota County in 1853, it was fully organized from the start. In 1855, Le Sueur County gained territory from Rice County, exchanged territory with Blue Earth and Scott counties, and lost territory when Steele County was created.
