History

Formed in 1858 from Pine County and Chisago County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Kanabec County was created from Pine County and organized on October 12, 1858, attached to Chisago County for judicial and other purposes. In 1871, it was detached from Chisago County and reattached to Pine County for judicial purposes. Kanabec became fully organized and independent in 1881, detached from Pine County.
