History

Formed in 1855 from Hennepin County and Sibley County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Carver County was created from Hennepin and Sibley counties on February 20, 1855. It was organized for county government on March 3, 1855, and attached to Hennepin County for judicial purposes, then fully organized and detached on February 25, 1856. Meeker County was attached to Carver County for judicial purposes on March 1, 1856, when Carver County lost territory to the creation of McLeod County, but Meeker was fully organized and detached by August 12, 1858.
