Formed in 1836 from Monroe County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Itawamba County was created from Monroe County in 1836. The county lost territory to the creation of Lee County in 1866, and further lost land to Tishomingo and Prentiss counties in 1870.
