History

Formed in 1809 from Claiborne County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Warren County was created by the Mississippi Territory from Claiborne County and Non-County Area 1. Over the following decades, Warren County underwent numerous boundary changes, gaining land from Hinds, Washington, and Yazoo Counties, and also losing land to the creation of Washington County and transfers to Claiborne County.

Boundary changes from the Newberry Library, Atlas of Historical County Boundaries; the 5 that matter most are shown first.
