History

Formed in 1871 from Carroll County and Sunflower County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Leflore County was created from Carroll and Sunflower on March 15, 1871. The county's boundaries shifted multiple times: it lost territory to Carroll County on January 26, 1877, regained some territory on March 5, 1880, and lost territory again on March 19, 1896.
